چکیده

Direct detection optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (DDO-OFDM) systems have been proposed as a well-suited solution for cost-sensitive applications, but also metro/regional links. In this article, we experimentally demonstrate tolerance enhancements of constant-envelope OFDM (CE-OFDM) signals towards Mach–Zehnder modulator (MZM) intermodulation impairments and fiber nonlinear Kerr effects. The additional is achieved by the reduced peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) CE-OFDM signals, unlike conventional that inherently possess high PAPR values therefore, are prone to distortions induced above-mentioned impairments. experiments show transmission with $=3$ dB over 1000 km dispersion-uncompensated standard single-mode (SSMF) successfully accomplished. proper choice MZM bias point, well electrical phase modulation index, provides link length enlargements at same bit error rate. An enlargement around 320 SSMF was an launch 10 dBm guard-band notation="LaTeX">$\approx 16\%$ signal bandwidth when compared DDO-OFDM systems.

Reconstructing nonlinearities with intermodulation spectroscopy.

We describe a method of analysis which allows for reconstructing the nonlinear disturbance of a high Q harmonic oscillator. When the oscillator is driven with two or more frequencies, the nonlinearity causes intermodulation of the drives, resulting in a complicated spectral response. Analysis of this spectrum allows one to approximate the nonlinearity. The method, which is generally applicable ...

Constant Envelope Binary Ofdm Phase Modulation

In this paper a new approach is presented to alleviate the undesirable effects due to the high peak-to-average power ratio of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing. A class of signaling called OFDM angle modulation is presented. These constant envelope OFDM based signals guarantee a 0dB PAPR thus are well suited for efficient nonlinear power amplification. This paper focuses on binary OFDM...

Spectral Containment and Performance Comparison of Constant Envelope OFDM-PM and Standard OFDM

In this paper we study the suitability of constant envelope multi-carrier modulation technique. This technique combines orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) and phase modulation (PM) where: (1) PM creates a constant envelope signal which allows high power amplifier to operate near saturation levels thus maximizing power efficiency; (2) OFDM increases robustness to multipath fading....
